❛ Be Like A Kid. ❜

Time definitely passes by very quickly. Just a few years back, I was just a primary school student and I remember that I always wanted to grow up quickly. I always have to go back home straight after school ended but I always disobeyed my parents' instructions and stayed in school to play. My rebelliousness often led to me getting scolded back at home. I was so excited to grow up to get more freedom and enjoyment of my own.
Yes, many years have passed, I have grown up now and I have so much more freedom. I go home so much later and I am able to do many things without reporting it to my parents. I get to make certain decisions myself. I'm just like a bird who can finally fly around freely. Of course I'm really happy to say that I've grown up but there's something that actually made me feel that growing up isn't actually as good as it seems.
Don't get me wrong, what I mean is that as I grow up, I start to see how people of different ages behave. It just made me think so much about this topic today while I was at Sembawang Primary.

Alright, so today I was at Sembawang Primary for my club event and I was in-charge of 10 kids. Firstly, I need to show you one of the pictures.

Look at their smile, such beautiful  smile, only they can do it. It's a smile that I don't see much. It's a smile that is so real. It's a smile that is  able to brighten up my entire day and it just warms my heart.  It's just a smile right from the bottom of their heart, it's real happiness. This is real happiness! What you see in the photo is what you get! I was with them for around 4 hours and I could see that even the simplest thing like a high-5 can make them happy. It wasn't just their smile which showed how amazing they are. They were cooperative, forgiving and loving.
Looking at them, it just made me realize how different people behave in primary schools, secondary schools and poly.

Back in my primary school days, we were just like all these lovely kids. As I moved on to secondary school and now poly, I see that the people constantly becomes more and more different. There's many people but it's hard to find a true friend.. Secondary school isn't that bad actually, I have many true friends there. What's worrying me is poly. There's so much gossiping going on and who knows, people might have gossiped about me too. There's also a daily grade system in my school which will affect the GPA so some people seems to be very competitive. There seems to be jealously, anger and hatred everywhere. Well, it doesn't affect me even if they do gossip about me but don't you think that if we live with the same attitude as those kids, we''ll have a better environment to be in?

A few years back, I  felt that the whole world is  becoming very self-centered. Everyone seems to be smiling less and loving less. Everyone is just too caught up with their own life that they probably feel that they are the only important person in the world. Well, I might have been wrong,  I start to realize that this seems to be the trend when people are going into a different season in their lives. A different season in their lives where they have more responsibility and pressure from people. However, kids are always the same, happy, loving and forgiving until they move into a new season of their lives just like everyone else.

I guess this the reason why people's heart seems to be smaller as they grow older?

To be honest, we''re not a kid anymore but we can all still be like a kid! We can still be always happy, always smiling, always loving and always forgiving. Can you imagine if the whole world grew up with these characteristics, there would be world peace and happiness everywhere we go to.
Why don't you put your work aside and just live like a 'kid'. Don't let someone's bad attitude towards you make you the same as them. Someone needs to start being a 'kid' to affect those around you positively, will you be the first one to who is willing to be different and start making a  difference?
I do feel that I need make a change and to be more like a 'kid', so let's do this together? :)
