❛ Encouraging has such a great power. ❜

People around me seem to love complaining. They complain about school, homework, people, transport e.t.c. They basically complain about every single thing. I see it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat. I'm not saying that its wrong, I used to be someone like that, I was very self-centered. I always did things I love but when things don't work out the way I wanted it to be, I start complaining. More than that, I get angry easily, which means people around me has to suffer because I'll start showing attitude to people.
Before I head to bed, I'll be complaining about my day on twitter. On certain days, I tweeted more than 100 tweets. Friends who has been following me on twitter since my secondary school days would know what I'm talking about. Complaining and ranting made me feel good before I head to bed.

However, there are certain things complaining and ranting didn't make me feel better.
Back in 2012 when I was in Secondary 3, I didn't really have a good discipline record and my results were so bad. There were teachers who has kinda gave up on me and I could tell easily from the look of their face. I was so lost but a teacher, Ms Evelyn Tan decided to believe in me and she ENCOURAGED me.

It was written on a simple piece of paper but the words meant so much to me. It encouraged me so much, I knew I couldn't disappoint when someone believes in me so I pulled up my socks and was promoted to Secondary 4. As far as I can remember, Ms Tan was the first teacher in my secondary school who encouraged me.
Here's just another encouragement Ms Tan gave me. Simple yet touching.

That was the first time I felt so encouraged and loved. I guess that's the power of encouragement .

I remember my Pastor once said something along this line, '' There is a reason why God put you through certain circumstances and situations. When you overcome, you can learn from it, you can now help people who are currently in this situation because you have been through it.''
As I look back at the past lessons I've learnt, I don't have a single regret because I know this is an opportunity for me. An opportunity for me to help people and speak words of faith. It allowed me to put myself into people's shoes and really feel for them. Now I look forward to facing challenges. I've decided not to complain so much. I've made a decision to embrace every difficult situation with a smile because in my heart I know when I overcome, it will be another opportunity for me to encourage others. This is why I've started to love encouraging.

Recently, I've been putting myself into some of my friends' situations and to be very honest, I actually teared as I really feel for them. I have nothing to offer them other than praying and encouraging. It may sound useless but I'm gonna tell you praying and encouraging is something you can never buy. It has extraordinary power.

One thing I tell myself when I'm in a difficult situation is, '' My life is tough? I don't think so. I am 101% sure there are people who are living a life worse than me and they are people who would rather have a life like mine.'' I always tell myself this, which is why I've been complaining less. There is always someone out who wishes you can notice them and give them an encouragement.

In the Bible, there's a man called Barnabas which means Son of Encouragement. He was an encourager and also a comforter. He's someone who lifts people out of their situation. He's someone who brings people to a higher ground.

“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas
(which means Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought
the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.”
—Acts 4:36–37

That's who I want to be. Start encouraging people around you because a lil encouragement like '' You're gonna do great '' can actually make a difference. It may seem like it's nothing much but to someone who has never been encouraged before, it means a lot. Be BOLD and start making a difference :)
''People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.''

Thank You Jesus.
Thank you to everyone who believed in me and encouraged me.
I'm here today encouraging others because I've been loved and encouraged.
